Requirements for PhD Students
Applicants interested in pursuing a PhD with Flugeelab are typically expected to have:
A Master’s degree in Geomorphology, Geography, Environmental Science, Hydrology, Geoinformatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field
Research interest aligned with river dynamics, extreme hydrological events, or geospatial modelling
Demonstrated research experience through a thesis, publications, or relevant projects
Strong analytical and technical skills, including familiarity with GIS, remote sensing, or quantitative methods
Good academic standing and eligibility for admission into York University’s doctoral program
Additional expectations may include fieldwork readiness, programming or modelling experience, and the ability to work both independently and in a team.
Requirements for MSc Students
Candidates applying for a Master’s position with Flugeelab are generally expected to have:
A Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Environmental Science, Geology, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline
Interest in river processes, landscape evolution, environmental change, or geospatial technologies
Strong academic performance and eligibility for York University’s graduate admissions
Basic skills or willingness to learn techniques in GIS, remote sensing, and field methods
Students should be enthusiastic about research, open to field-based work, and eager to develop expertise in fluvial geomorphology.
